In a notable achievement within the automotive design community, the Volvo EX30 has been awarded the Red Dot ‘Best of the Best’ Product Design Award for 2024. This recognition is among the most esteemed in the industry, distinguishing products that demonstrate exceptional design quality and innovation.
The Red Dot Award evaluates entries based on stringent criteria, including the quality of function, seduction, use, and responsibility. The Volvo EX30 stood out in this rigorous evaluation, earning an impressive score of 93 out of 100. A panel comprising 39 global experts reviewed a multitude of submissions, ultimately selecting the EX30 for its exemplary design and functionality.
Volvo Cars CEO Jim Rowan highlighted the vehicle's alignment with the company’s ethos, stating, "The Volvo EX30 represents our design principles in a more compact package, emphasizing premium Scandinavian design where functionality is paramount." He added that the EX30 is not only the most environmentally friendly fully electric Volvo model to date but also maintains the brand's high standards for safety and advanced technology, making it well-suited for the increasing shift towards electric vehicles.
Design-wise, the EX30 boasts a balanced aesthetic with a long wheelbase and large wheels, complemented by equal overhangs that enhance its overall refinement. The vehicle incorporates natural and recycled materials, reflecting Volvo’s commitment to sustainability. Additionally, the interior design maximizes the benefits of an electric platform by optimizing space for storage, controls, and displays, which contributes to a flexible and premium cabin environment.
The EX30 has already received widespread acclaim, securing over 20 major awards since its debut last summer. These accolades include the prestigious Car Design Award 2024, the Sun Car of the Year, the Small SUV/Crossover of the Year from the Sunday Times, and the Eco Warrior of the Year from Top Gear magazine.
This slew of awards highlights the Volvo EX30’s position as a leader in both design and functionality.
