Volvo Car Canada has achieved a remarkable milestone, closing the year 2023 with an unprecedented 25% increase in sales compared to the previous year. This surge in sales, totaling 12,865 cars, marks the highest annual sales figure in the company's history. The growth was significantly bolstered by the rising popularity of the Recharge lineup, comprising fully electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, which accounted for 35% of the total sales, reflecting a 30% jump from the prior year.
Exceptional Year for Volvo Recharge Electric Vehicles
Over 4,000 Recharge vehicles were delivered to Canadian customers in 2023, aligning with Volvo's global commitment to exclusively sell fully electric cars by 2030 and achieve climate neutrality by 2040. This impressive performance underlines the company's dedication to sustainable mobility and its appeal to environmentally conscious consumers.
Looking forward to 2024, Volvo Car Canada is set to further its electric vehicle (EV) portfolio with two exciting additions: the Volvo EX90, a seven-seat flagship SUV, and the Volvo EX30, the brand's smallest SUV to date. Both models represent the cutting edge of electric vehicle technology, featuring advanced battery systems and next-generation computing capabilities.
The company's success in 2023 extends beyond vehicle sales to its customer service innovations. Volvo Car Canada witnessed a 40% increase in online sales, a trend expected to continue into 2024. The company attributes this growth to its One Price Promise sales model, offering a negotiation-free, transparent, and streamlined shopping experience for customers, both online and in-store.
Volvo's sustainability efforts are further reflected in its retail operations. The Volvo Retailer Sustainability Experience (VRSE) facilities, which opened their first two locations in 2023 are testament to this commitment. These state-of-the-art facilities operate on renewable energy and are constructed according to leading environmental standards, with more locations slated to open this year.
Matt Girgis, President of Volvo Car Canada, expressed pride in the company's achievements. "We are proud of the strides we’ve made as a company this year, from enhancing the customer experience to working towards our ambitious electrification goals while setting sales and performance records,” he stated. Girgis also acknowledged the crucial role of retail partners and loyal customers in supporting Volvo's growth and sustainability journey.
