In the realm of automotive design, the new all-electric Volvo EX90 SUV is redefining luxury through its commitment to sustainability. The interior design team at Volvo Cars, led by Lisa Reeves, has meticulously chosen materials that not only feel good but also do good. The result is a vehicle that leaves a lasting impression, much like the tactile memories we cherish from our past.
The EX90's interior design reflects the company's values and Scandinavian roots, crafted using materials sourced from natural, renewable, and recycled sources. Notably, the Nordico upholstery sets a new benchmark for premium interior design. It's a textile made from recycled materials such as PET bottles and bio-attributed polymers from forests in Sweden and Finland. The intricate texture of ridges and valleys on the Nordico upholstery surface is a testament to the designers' painstaking efforts.
Another sustainable upholstery option in the EX90 is the Nativa-certified wool blend seat finishing. This fabric meets rigorous sustainability standards concerning animal welfare, environmental, and social issues. The car also features FSC-certified wood panels and carpets made partly of regenerated polyamide. These sustainable choices ensure that almost 50 kilograms of the Volvo EX90's composition consist of recycled plastics and bio-based materials, the highest amount in Volvo's line-up.
The EX90 allows owners to tailor their car's interior with seven different "rooms". Each room, inspired by the Scandinavian lifestyle and its affinity with nature, provides a unique mood through a thoughtful selection of colour, upholstery, and material finish. SunLike LEDs light up the cabin, highlighting the wood decor and progressive materials.
Volvo Cars is dedicated to providing customers with the freedom to move in a personal, sustainable, and safe way. This ethos is reflected in the company's ambition to become a fully electric car maker by 2030 and achieve climate neutrality by 2040. With the new Volvo EX90 SUV, the company is taking significant strides towards these goals, offering a luxurious driving experience that leaves a lasting, sustainable impression.
