These days, wagons are rare. What was once the staple of the Canadian automotive landscape has now been replace by crossovers with their taller ride heights and…well, not all that much more, really. Wagons have as much storage as similarly-sized crossovers, they tend to look better and they are more fun to drive.
So yes, they are rare but you know what’s even rarer? A Wagon with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) . the Volvo V60 Recharge, you get both! That great wagon styling and all that comes with it, as well as a fuel-efficient PHEV powertrain that can cruise up to 64 km on pure electric power. In addition to that, the V60 Recharge comes with AWD as standard and makes up to 415 horsepower and 494 pound-feet of torque in Polestar Engineered spec. That’s enough for a 0-100 km/h sprint of 4.5 seconds, which is bona fide sports car territory.
It achieves all this thanks to the combination of EV and combustion power, but it doesn’t stop there as both supercharging and turbocharging are also in the mix to keep the acceleration brisk.
To keep it all in check, the chassis has been given a more athletic state of tune and the steering is ultra-direct so it can handle as fast as it can accelerate.
Of course it does all this while also being able to haul 529 litres of cargo in its generous rear storage area. That’s all made easier to load since this being a wagon, it doesn’t have the high liftover height of a crossover.
The performance and capabilities are important aspects, to be sure but occupant comfort and connectivity cannot be ignored. You’re still getting all the traditional Volvo interior accoutrements like ultra-supportive seats and smooth ride, but with the addition of Google Built-in infotainment means a whole new level of connectivity.
With Google Built-in, you can log in to your Google account from the car and have access to many of your favourite apps such as Google Maps or Spotify, as well as your Google Assistant that can set your Google Maps destination, read you your daily appointments ore even turn up your air con.
The 2023 Volvo V60 Recharge offers all this and so much more – come pay us a visit, and let us show you around!
