Volvo Car Canada continues its journey toward sustainable mobility by revolutionizing its 2023 lineup. The automaker has announced that all of its 2023 models in Canada will be mild-hybrid, hybrid, or fully electric, signifying a pivotal change in the company's vision for its future vehicles. Each car will also feature Google's built-in technology, making each journey more connected and user-friendly.
The Advent of Mild-Hybrid Technology
Volvo's transition to mild-hybrid technology has seen the introduction of new powertrains across its range, including the XC90 and XC40 SUVs, as well as the V60 and V60 Cross Country. The B4, B5, and B6 mild-hybrid engines, which employ regenerative braking for energy recovery, offer smoother acceleration and improved fuel economy while contributing to reduced emissions. This innovative strategy aligns with Volvo's objective to offer purely electric vehicles by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2040.
The B-Series Engines: An Evolution in Efficiency
The B-series engines represent an upgrade from Volvo's traditional T-series powertrains. The B-series engines are effectively the T-series engines, but they include regenerative braking technology that increases the L/100 km rating, thereby offering more range and efficiency:
Performance of the B-Series Engines
The new B-series engines bring a boost in performance. The B6 engine leads the pack with 300 horsepower. The B5 engine offers 250 horsepower and can accelerate from 0-97 km/h in 6.6 seconds. Lastly, the B4 engine, while slightly less powerful, delivers 197.
Google Integration: A Seamless Digital Transition
Volvo's 2023 lineup comes equipped with Google built-in, providing drivers with a smooth transition between their digital life at home and on the move. The features include Google Assistant for voice commands, Google Maps for seamless navigation, and access to the Google Play store for additional applications.
With this bold and innovative move, Volvo sends a clear message about its commitment to creating a sustainable and eco-friendly future for mobility.
