The 2022 Volvo XC60 has been significantly improved this year. It receives a multitude of improvements including new engines that replace the outgoing T5 and T6 powertrains, and new technology inside. The 2022 Volvo XC60 also features a refreshed exterior design and new color options. Let's take a look at some of the improvements made by Volvo to the very popular XC60 compact luxury SUV.
New B5 and B6 mild-hybrid engines. The 2022 Volvo XC60 receives the biggest changes under the hood. Here the XC60 replaces the previous T5 and T6 engines by new B5 and B6 mild hybrid powertrains. The new B5 engine delivers 247 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque while the B6 engine features 295 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. Both engines will enjoy a new of mild-hybrid system that adds on an extra 13 horsepower.
Not only does this mild-hybrid system deliver more total horsepower than the outgoing engines, but it also helps improves fuel economy which decreases to just 9.1 L per 100k m on average in the B5 powertrain, and just 9.9 L per 100km in the B6 powertrain. Moreover, each engine averages under 9 L per 100 km on the highway. The city fuel economy rating has also vastly improved. This is truly an impressive improvement made to the XC60 and rarely do we see a powertrain deliver more performance while also offering better efficiency.
Better connectivity. The 2022 Volvo XC60 now features a Google-based infotainment system with well-known applications such as Google Maps and Google Assistant. If you are an Android user, you will recognize many of the maps and apps that are offered in the new infotainment system powering the XC60’s features. The 2022 Volvo XC60 also offers new interior options and trims.
New exterior. Already one of the most refined and elegant compact SUVs on the market in the luxury segment, the 2022 Volvo XC60 gets even more elegant this year. It has new color options and the design elements for the exterior that give it a fresh, even more elegant look.
