The 2022 Volvo XC60 gets a remodeled engine lineup.
There’s something new under the hood of the Volvo X60 for 2022. The T5 and T6 engines have been replaced by the B5 and B6 engines. Thanks to those new state-of-the-art powertrains, hybrid technology is now standard on all XC60 models. The B5 engine uses a state of the art four-cylinder 2.0-litre turbocharged engine complemented by a 48-volt hybrid system. The total combined output ranks in at 247 horsepower and 258 lb-ft. The combined fuel consumption is better than with the outgoing model, with only 9.4 L/100 km.
The B6 engine uses the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder but adds a supercharger. It develops 295 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. The combined fuel consumption is only 9.9 L/100 km with this engine.
The acclaimed T8 powertrain is still available in both Recharge and Polestar Engineered models. This plug-in hybrid produces an output of 400 horsepower in the Recharge model, and 415 horsepower in the Polestar Engineered model.
All engines are mated to a precisely calibrated 8-speed automatic transmission and Volvo’s extraordinarily capable AWD system.
More style and more tech inside the 2022 XC60
Inside, the Volvo XC60 is spacious and technologically advanced. New this year, a state-of-the-art infotainment thanks to Google. This new Android-based interface offers a voice assistant, unlimited personalization options, and best-in-class navigation via Google Maps and more in-car apps via Google Play. The XC60 offers 483 litres of cargo space behind the rear seats.
Outside, the XC60 gets a few styling changes, including a new grille, a reworked front bumper, updated wheel designs, and more. Volvo has also brought upgrades to the radar, camera, and various sensors in order to collect more extensive data to feed the XC60’s driver-assistance systems.
