The compact luxury sedan segment is still thriving. Driver who are looking for excellent driving dynamics, unparalleled style and superior performance choose compact luxury sedans because they make every trip a great driving experience. But not all compact luxury sedans are created equal.
The Volvo S60 pairs performance, efficiency, comfort and technology like no other. It features the best in terms of safety and styling, something every Volvo has.
Here, we compare the 2022 Volvo S60 Recharge to the BMW 3 Series.
The 2022 Volvo S60 Recharge is more powerful
The S60 sedan delivers powerful and efficient engine options. The S60 Recharge uses the T8 hybrid powertrain. It uses a 2.0 L four-cylinder turbocharged and supercharged engine paired to an electric motor and a high-output battery. It outputs an impressive 400 horsepower and 472 lb-ft of torque.
It is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and Volvo’s precise AWD system. For those who need more power, the Polestar Engineered version is available with 415 horsepower and is fitted with numerous high-performance and competition-inspired components.
The Volvo S60 Recharge can also travel for 37 kilometres on fully-electric propulsion and without using a single drop of fuel.
The BMW 3 series also has a plug-in hybrid powertrain. However, it is much less powerful than the Volvo S60 Recharge. It uses a similar powertrain setup, but the output is much lower, with only 288 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. The BMW 3 Series doesn’t have a high-performance hybrid variant like the S60’s Polestar Engineered model.
The 2022 Volvo S60 Recharge gives you more space and more tech
The S60 Recharge has an interior space advantage over the BMW 3 Series compared to the BMW 3 Series hybrid. While the S60 sedan deploys 392 litres in the trunk, you’ll only get 369 litres of cargo volume.
The Volvo S60 Recharge also delivers more technologies than the BMW 3 Series. For example, the advanced air cleaner in the S60 prevents up to 95 per cent of hazardous PM 2.5 particles entering the cabin. This gives the driver and passengers a better riding experience. The BMW 3 Series doesn’t have this type of technology.
