The 2022 Volvo Recharge model lineup is getting a significant mid-year improvement cycle that will nearly double the range of some of the plug-in hybrid models in the Recharge lineup. Thanks to a larger battery, Volvo Recharge models like the 2022 Volvo XC60 Recharge or the 2022 Volvo XC90 Recharge will be able to go further on a single charge and most owners should be able to do most of their daily driving without using a single drop of fuel.
With the price of gas continuously increasing, this is welcomed news. At the heart of the improvements made to the 2022 Volvo Recharge model lineup we find a larger 18.8-kWh battery which replaces the previous 11.6-kWh battery. The table below highlights the changes to the different 2022 Volvo Recharge models.

As you can see, the increase in all-electric range is significant. That said, the improved range isn't the only thing Volvo Recharge models will offer to their owners starting this month. The rear electric motor increases horsepower by 65% and now offers 143 horsepower vs 87. This means a total combined output of 455 horsepower for Recharge T8 all-wheel drive models, which means that these are the most powerful Volvo vehicles ever built.
There are many other improvements including the addition of one-pedal driving across the lineup starting with the XC60 Recharge and S90 Recharge.
“Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles play an important role in the shift to electrification,” said Matt Girgis, managing director, Volvo Car Canada. “These upgraded powertrains will demonstrate the many benefits of an electric future and will serve as an enabling technology that will encourage more consumers to adopt the electric lifestyle.”
